National technology companies represent Colombia at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

The Minister of Information and Communications Technology of Colombia (ICT), David Luna, heads the national delegation (integrated by businessmen and entrepreneurs), which participates in this congress that brings together the world's main mobile service providers.

From February 27 to March 2, the 12th edition of the Mobile World Congress, organized by GSMA, will be held in the city of Barcelona (Spain), which brings together the world's main mobile service providers. In this scenario, 27 Colombian companies will present their exportable offer thanks to the support of MinTIC and Procolombia.

In the framework of this congress, the Chief of the ICT Portfolio, David Luna, will participate in the ministerial meeting, a platform that discusses public telecommunications policies and issues related to the future of internationally mobile telephony. In addition, David Luna will hold meetings with entrepreneurs of large ICT firms and will open the stand of Colombia in the congress next Monday.

For the third year in a row, thanks to the support of MinTIC and Procolombia, Colombian entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs (two from the Team Startup Colombia, 16 from the IT industry and nine from digital content from Bogota, Medellin, Pereira, Manizales, Cali, Cartagena, Barranquilla and Caquetá) will attend this congress, which is consolidated as a strategic scenario for the internationalization of companies, high level networking, generation of new and better commercial opportunities and the identification of trends, innovation and learning about the sector.

"Colombia has an entrepreneurial DNA and has a world-class IT and Digital Content industry, with high potential and projection to compete internationally. We are supporting our entrepreneurs so that they can be at the epicenter of the mobile industry and look for business opportunities with international buyers thanks to their innovative and highly exported products and services", said Minister Luna, who pointed out that with these initiatives "we take Colombia towards a Digital Economy".

In the MWC2017, Colombia will have a stand, which will present the 'Colombia Bring IT on' campaign, and where entrepreneurs will be able to interact with peers from other countries to promote the IT industry and Digital Content in international markets.

"The IT and Digital Content industry has competitive advantages over other suppliers in the region. The human resource that is reinvented in each product and Colombia's geographical position favors exports of these services because they can respond almost immediately, which is considered by customers abroad as an intangible added value", said Felipe Jaramillo, president of ProColombia.

Through the MinTIC and Procolombia partnership, and with an investment of US $ 7.7 million from 2012 to 2016, more than 2,200 IT and Digital Content companies have been impacted and, in the same way, exports have been achieved for US $ 360,6, and has obtained a growth in the IT industry of 37% and in Digital Content of 43%.

The Colombian IT industry has been positioning itself globally through the Colombia 'Bring IT On' Campaign, which shows the world the exportable offer of IT solutions and Digital Content under the motto "We make it possible here".

On the other hand, six teams of digital entrepreneurs of the Apps.co initiative will attend the 4YFN, parallel event to the MWC that seeks to gather in one place startups with potential investors, business customers and government entities.
